DIY - Cadeiras / Chairs

Uma amiga minha comprou uma casa em segunda mão que tinha uma série de móveis antigos que ela não queria aproveitar. Do conjunto eu escolhi uma série deles, entre os quis o móvel da casa de banho que vos mostrei aqui, outro móvel que quando o recuperar também vos vou mostrar e um conjunto de 4 cadeiras e uma mesa extensível. Hoje mostro-vos a recuperação das cadeiras.

A friend of mine bought a second-hand home that had a number of antique furniture she did not want. From the set I chose some, among them it was the furniture of the bathroom that I showed you here, another furniture that when I recover I also will show you and a set of 4 chairs and an extendable table. Today I show you the recovery of the chairs.

O tecido foi um retalho que comprei em Campo de Ourique sem saber qual o destino, só porque achei que iria ficar bem em qualquer coisa e porque foi um grande pedaço por menos de 5 euros.

The fabric was a retail I bought in Campo de Ourique without knowing the destination, just because I thought it would look good on something and because it was a big piece for less than 5 euros.

O destino desta cadeira acabou por ser outro, uma vez que recuperei as outras três e ficavam bem todas juntas, depois farei um update!

The destination of this chair turned out to be another, since I recovered the other three and they match well together, later I will make an update!

DIY - Protecção de escadas / Protection of stairs

Quando se chega quase ao fim de uma obra, principalmente quando se tem um orçamento muito limitado, há opções que têm de se fazer porque não dá para tudo. As escadas foi uma das decisões que tivemos de tomar. Todos os orçamentos eram muito elevados, a começar nos três mil e quinhentos euros por isso decidimos aventurar-nos a fazê-los. Ficou 100 % ? Não. Mas serve e protege até podermos mandar fazer  por profissionais e, apenas gastamos 200 € em materiais. A mão de obra foi oferta da casa :)

When you come almost to the end of a construction of a house, especially when you have a very limited budget, there are options you have to make. The stairs was one of that the decisions. All budgets were very high, starting at three thousand five hundred euros so we decided to venture out to do them. Is it 100%? No. But it's enough and protects until we can order by professionals and we only spend € 200 on materials. The labor was house's offer :)

Os postes foram aparafusados à parede. Não é fácil, um parafuso entra lindamente e o seguinte só entra metade, foi problema atrás de problema e parecia tão simples... As medidas foram outro desafio, a direito não tem nada que saber mas na diagonal, com os desníveis e patamares, medimos e voltamos a medir vezes sem conta!

The posts were bolted to the wall. It's not easy, a screw comes in beautifully and the next only comes in half, it was problem behind problem and it seemed so simple ... The measures were another challenge, straight is easy but on the diagonal, with the gaps and levels, we measure and measure  again and again !

Tivemos muito medo de fazer este projecto e está longe de perfeito mas, para já, atingiu os seus objectivos!

Uma ideia para usar os puxadores para outros fins / An idea to use the knobs for other purposes

Nós tínhamos os espelhos da casa de banho para pendurar e, o usual, é pregar um camarão ou pregos, não é verdade? Mas o A. lembrou-se que os puxadores que eu tinha comprado para um projecto de recuperação de um armário e que eram de corda, o mesmo material dos espelhos, ficariam lindamente. Assim resolvemos experimentar, bucha na parede e fomos enroscando os puxadores... et voilá, ficou lindo:

We had the mirrors in the bathroom to hang, and the usual thing is to nail a shrimp or nails, isn't it? But A. remembered that the knobs I had bought for a cabinet recovery project in rope, the same material as the mirrors, would look beautiful. So we decided to try it on the wall and screwed the knobs ... et voila, it is beautiful:

Prova dos nove / The real stuff

Olá :)

Sim, eu sei que já há muito tempo não publico nada no Blog. Quem me segue no Instagram vai acompanhando a evolução da nossa situação, da nossa casa e da mudança, embora também nesta rede não seja muito assídua. A verdade é que, com tantas áreas onde investir desconcentrei-me e tenho tido dificuldade em organizar-me para manter o Blog actualizado. No entanto, é algo que quero fazer porque gosto de ter o registo do que fomos/ vamos fazendo  e, por outro lado sei que continuo a ter visitas, de seguidores que continuam à espera que eu publique, por isso aqui vai.

Como o último post que fiz foi sobre o móvel da casa de banho que recuperamos, aqui ficam umas fotos do móvel no sitio dele:

DIY - Móvel do WC principal / Main toilet cabinet

O antes de um móvel que nos deram

The before of a furniture given to us

Primeiro retiramos todas as ferragens, as gavetas, as portas e o pequeno painel por cima do armário

First we removed all the hardware, the drawers, the doors and the small panel above the cabinet

Depois lixamos para retirar todo o verniz  /  Then we sand to remove all varnish

Como não queremos as gavetas, decidimos cortar as traves que as suportavam para substituir apenas por uma prateleira ao meio, com o objectivo de dar um aspecto mais leve ao conjunto

Because we do not want the drawers, we decided to cut the beams that supported them to replace only one shelf in the middle, in order to give a lighter look to the set

Aqui está já com a prateleira e o primário. Também tivemos de substituir as prateleiras de ambos os lados porque as originais estavam partidas

       O fundo, ao meio, também teve de levar uma prateleira extra, porque estava cheio de recortes.

No painel de cima retiramos o florão que tinha ao meio para ficar mais elegante

In the top panel we removed the flower that was in the middle to be more elegant

Quando escolhemos a tinta levamos uma amostra dos azulejos da casa de banho e não foi pacifico. A minha primeira escolha ia para o cinza médio mas o A. queria este tom, também médio que não sei definir. Não é cinzento, não é creme mas vai buscar a cor predominante dos azulejos e faz um excelente contraste com o creme dos azulejos onde vai encostar o móvel e também com as bacias que vão assentar em cima.

When we chose the paint we took a sample of the tiles from the bathroom and it was not easy. My first choice was middle gray but A. wanted this tone, that I can not define. It is not gray, it is not cream but it will get the predominant color of the tiles and it makes an excellent contrast with the cream of the tiles where the furniture will lie and also with the basins that will settle on top.

Depois foi preciso escolher os puxadores. Quando vi estes com o padrão dos azulejos foi amor à primeira vista!

Then you had to choose the knobs. When I saw these with the pattern of the tiles was love at first sight!

Et voilá!!

Ainda falta a prova dos nove: colocá-lo na casa de banho e ver se se enquadra com o ambiente circundante. Aceitam-se apostas! :)

We still need the final proof: put it in the bathroom and see if it fits with the surrounding environment. Betting is accepted! :)
